WATSONVILLE — A project to improve the intersection of Highway 129 and Carlton Road beginning next week will result in traffic delays and a temporary closure.
Starting Monday, work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with one-way reversing traffic control on Highway 129. Up to 20-minute delays are expected, according to Caltrans.
On Oct. 4, Carlton Road at Highway 129 will fully close through December, weather permitting. Thompson Road will be used as a detour, and Highway 129 will remain open to through traffic.
The project will realign Carlton Road and construct a new intersection with a left-turn lane on Highway 129.
Electronic message boards will be posted alerting motorists of this roadwork, which is expected to be complete in summer 2019. The contractor for this $2 million project is Graniterock of Watsonville.
