WATSONVILLE — A man wanted in a Sunday morning stabbing was arrested Tuesday, police said.

According to Watsonville Police, Omar Contreras, 29, was wanted for stabbing a 23-year-old man in the chest at a restaurant on the 100 block of Main Street in Watsonville at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Officers from the Watsonville Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s Office arrested Contreras at a home in Las Lomas on Tueaday morning.

The victim was taken to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment and has since been released from the hospital, according to police.

With the help of surveillance footage and witnesses, officers were able to identify Contreras as the suspect.

Contreras was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail with a $375,000 bail.
