Gilberto Ruiz died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. He was 66.

A native of Guanajuato, Mexico he moved to Santa Cruz County at the age of 15 and resided in Watsonville for the past 40 years with his family. He was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family, friends and community. He recently retired from Don Chapin Construction to enjoy his family and life.

Mr. Ruiz is survived by his three children, Gilberto Ruiz, Mario Ruiz and Veronica Martin; siblings, Prudencio Ruiz, Artemio Ruiz, Cirilo Ruiz, Carlos Ruiz, Fidel Ruiz, Juanita Espinoza and Maria Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 26 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish at 7 p.m. for a rosary. The Mass will be on Thursday, Dec. 27 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish at 1 p.m. and followed with the burial at Valley Public
Cemetery.
