Karen Elizabeth Wildman, age 67, died peacefully at home in Watsonville, CA on December 29, 2018.
She was born in Willows, CA and began her life in Orland, CA. She moved to Mount Herman with her family in the early 1960’s, where she resided until 1970.
She completed high school in 1969 at San Lorenzo Valley High in Felton. She met David Wildman there, her husband to be, in her junior year. They were married in 1970 and had 48 years together filled with many little adventures. Their first years of marriage were spent in Adana, Turkey and Clearfield, Utah while David served in the Air Force. They started their family in 1974, and together they raised three sons. Karen and David came to Watsonville in 1977.
Karen was an active bowler in her early years in Watsonville. She had a passion for family history, often looking up ancestors for friends. As her sons grew, she became more involved in school functions, chairing the Grad Night celebrations for several years. She worked for more than twenty years as an administrative assistant for Monterey Bay Investments in Aptos. Karen was a masterful seamstress sewing many prom dresses and wedding gowns for nieces and the young ladies in the county. She often created her own patterns on scrap paper. Her favorite work was the detailed Halloween costumes she constructed for her boys and grandchildren, often her only guide – a photograph.
She is survived by her husband David, and children, Joshua and his wife Nancy, Jacob, and Jonathan, and four grandchildren.
Karen’s Celebration of Life will be Friday, January 18, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 101 Madison Street, Watsonville, CA.
A private family internment will be held at Pajaro Valley Cemetery prior to the Celebration of Life.
