WATSONVILLE — Every year, several troupes of dancers assemble in Watsonville for a multicultural performance created to raise funds for scholarships.

The 15th annual ¡Cultura Caliente! scholarship fundraiser is scheduled for Friday in the Henry J. Mello Center.

Among the 18 performers this year are the Watsonville High School Dance Club, the Pacific Arts Complex, Sellaria, Agape Dance Academy and Jill Baker Belly Dance.

The performance includes a wide variety of styles, including hip-hop, Tahitian, Afro-Brazilian and modern.

The Watsonville High School Dance Club was in the school’s dance studio recently, practicing the moves for their performance.

“It’s a really fun show, really diverse,” said Watsonville High School dance teacher Venessa Fregoso. “I think everyone should experience it.”

This year’s artists are Agape Dance Academy, Casino Contigo, Dance Center, Estrellas de Esperanza, Tannery World Dance & Cultural Center, Jessa DeLancy, Jill Baker Belly Dance, Pacific Arts Complex, Santa Cruz Circus, Stellaria, Tiare Tahiti, Watsonville High School Dance and Worldanz.

¡Cultura Caliente! is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Henry J. Mello Center, 250 East Beach St. in Watsonville. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, and $10 for adults.
