The artwork of Coeleen Kiebert, a long-running sculptor and educator in the Monterey Bay Area, is the center of focus in the latest exhibit at Pajaro Valley Arts, “Art & Spirit.”

The show showcases Kiebert’s legacy and the work of her longtime students, highlighting art created through the unique processes Kiebert has developed in her teaching.

“Waiting for Inspiration” is an acrylic on panel painting by Nancy Niles.

“Having this show here just feels very right to me,” Kliebert said. “This place is so much of a home to me. Finding a personal voice is so important and making it loud and brash, which I think is very clear in this show.”

With a career spanning decades, Kiebert holds a B.S. in Art Education, and a M.S. in Social Psychology.

According to a statement by curator Joan Blackmer, Kiebert emphasizes “self-awareness and a deeper understanding of the unconscious mind inspired by her studies of Jungian psychology.”

“Collage Booklet” is a paper work by Jannette Miller.

Her teaching process often incorporates the collage as a starting point and then a deconstruction and reconstruction of the collage is an essential part of the artist’s search for integration between expression, ideas, and aesthetics, the statement says.

At 92, Kiebert continues working on art in the Monterey Bay Area where she has lived for the past 55 years.
