WATSONVILLE — Anita Barba died at her home in Watsonville on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017. She was 84.

Mrs. Barba was born in Mexico to Ruben and Mercedes Magana. She attended Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Pajaro regularly up until her health declined in the past year. She loved to get dressed up to attend Mass. Mrs. Barba also loved to listen to music, was a great cook and traveling to Mexico to visit family and friends. She was an outgoing friendly person who would socialize with any and all. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Barba is survived by her husband, Romulo Barba; sons, Alberto and Juan Barba, both of Watsonville, and Samuel Barba of San Jose; daughter, Alicia Rodriguez of Salinas; brothers, Manuel, Ramon and Roberto Magana, all of Mexico; sisters, Maria Carmen Magana of Watsonville and Lucy Magana of Chula Vista; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lupe Barba Avila.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 3-9 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. and burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
