Aptos senior Anahi Macias was named the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League’s Player of the Year for the 2024-25 girls soccer season. The Mariners’ team co-captain finished with five goals and one assist.

Macias, the SCCAL’s reigning Defender of the Year, made the switch to midfielder prior to the season but she had no trouble adjusting to a new position. She helped lead Aptos to a third straight league title, going 9-0-1 in SCCAL play this season.

Soquel junior Isis Gonzalez and senior Chloe McGilvray were named the league’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, while Santa Cruz sophomore Ari Flores was chosen as this season’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

San Lorenzo Valley head coach Kim Lyons was named the SCCAL’s Coach of the Year in just her first year with the program.

Aptos juniors Alexa Castañeda and Izzie Schenone along with sophomore Isabella Hartnett each earned All-SCCAL First Team honors.

According to statistics on the Monterey Bay Preps website, Hartnett led the league with 19 goals and had three assists, while Castañeda finished with a team-best 10 assists to go along with 12 goals. Schenone was a force to be reckoned with in the backfield for the Mariners’ defense, which recorded 12 shutouts this season.
