BOULDER CREEK—The California Highway Patrol arrested a Boulder Creek man Tuesday following a lengthy investigation into a fatal vehicle crash two weeks ago in the same Santa Cruz Mountains town.

Cody McGhee, 31, was arrested in San Jose on suspicion of the hit-and-run death of Sara Youhas on July 14, the CHP said. Youhas, a 73-year-old Boulder Creek woman, was reported missing on July 14. She was found dead by a passerby down an embankment on Bear Creek Road east of View Drive on July 16.

Youhas had been struck by a vehicle while she was on her daily walk, the CHP said.

“After receiving helpful tips from the community, CHP Coastal Division Investigative Services Unit (ISU) worked tirelessly to locate and arrest McGhee,” the CHP said. “We thank the community for the support and CHP Coastal Division ISU for the in depth work.”
