CAPITOLA – Bay Federal Credit Union employees raised $11,055 during the month of May in their annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraiser. And thanks to a philanthropic match of $10,000 from CO-OP Financial Services, Bay Federal sent over $21,000 to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Bay Federal received CO-OP Financial Services’ Miracle Match in recognition for its fundraising methods. The credit union raised funds through raffles, bake sales, branch decorating contests, and a “Coin Wars” competition to collect pocket change at the Credit Union’s corporate offices. They surpassed the amount it raised last year by more than $500.
The funds raised will remain local at the nearest Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation. The foundation regularly serves sick, injured, and special needs children in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties.
“It is an honor to support our outstanding local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals program,” said Carrie Birkhofer, President and CEO of Bay Federal. “This program provides support, aid, and comfort to children and their families in a time of need. This is part of Bay Federal’s commitment to the people who live in our community, which is why I am incredibly proud of our team members’ dedication to this cause.”
