Top-seeded Aptos High survived a five-set barnburner against No. 5 Leigh High on Thursday to advance to Saturday’s Central Coast Section Division II championship match. The scores were 25-20, 35-37, 25-16, 17-25, 15-12.
The Mariners (27-4) will play No. 2 Branham High — a four-set winner over No. 3 Serra — at 2 p.m. at St. Francis-Mountain View.
Kacey Losik had 14 digs, 30 kills and two blocks, Jordan Notari added 12 digs and 18 kills and Michael Spinelli stuffed the stat sheet with 10 digs, 58 assists and two blocks.
Jackson Shirley and Noah Eitzen combined for 12 kills and nine blocks. Josh Powell and Christian Segura led the defensive charge with nine and 16 digs, respectively.

Harker 3, Mt. Madonna 1 – No. 2 Mt. Madonna saw its season end in the semifinals of the CCS D-III playoffs in a 25-18, 25-21, 20-25, 27-25 loss to No. 3 The Harker School.
Mt. Madonna (27-7) will graduate six seniors: Lucas Caudil, Brigg Busenhart, Zachary Wagner, Zack Clark, Jordan Willis and Carl Ward.
