Learning roses in the garden

The Monterey Bay Rose Society will host a Meeting and Education Day at the Display Rose Garden at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2661 East Lake Ave., on Saturday at 10am.

The event gives the public hands-on experience in the garden that includes preparing the soil, planting, use of wire baskets, deadheading and clean up of a rose bush.

Wear comfortable clothing, shoes and dress in layers as weather is unpredictable. Attendees are welcome to bring their pruners, gloves and garden gear. Note: use the livestock entrance.

For information, call Judy at 345.2678.

The date coincides with the Second Saturday events occurring at the Ag History Project at the fairgrounds so visitors there are welcome to the rose garden events as well.
