APTOS—Cabrillo College’s on-campus art gallery is reopening to the public after being shuttered since March 2020.
After holding a variety of virtual shows for the past 17 months, Cabrillo Gallery returns to in-person with its annual “12×12: An Open Invitational” exhibit. The exhibit invites artists from across California to showcase work from all kinds of media—as long as the work measures 12×12 inches.
Drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, digital media, sculpture, ceramics, fiber, woodworking, metalworking, glass and more are featured. Artists range from high school students to seasoned professionals.
“12×12” is a fundraiser. Participants contribute funds that help support the gallery put on exhibitions and educational programming throughout the school year. The gallery will award “people’s choice” cash prizes to three artists selected by the viewing audience.
Covid-19 protocols will be enforced at the gallery. Masks are required for entry, capacity will be capped at 18 and social distancing is requested.
Cabrillo Gallery is located on the Aptos campus, 6500 Soquel Dr. on the first floor of the Library building, room #1002. Hours are Monday-Friday 10am-4pm, and Monday and Wednesday evenings 7-9pm.
Admission is free and accessible to all. Parking is free on public streets or paid in other campus students and visitor lots.
