Watsonville firefighter Nate Tapiz douses hot spots in a car fire that erupted on the 100 block of Wagner Avenue Wednesday. Watsonville Fire Capt. Rick Pettigrew said the 2 p.m. fire melted a portion of a portable tent that covered the El Camino car that had a huge load of stored household items in its bed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
