Emergency officials prepare to take a man (below, center) to the emergency room Monday after his Toyota Camry drifted off of Highway 1 south of Watsonville at Jensen Road. For unknown reasons the male driver of the Camry shot off the right shoulder of northbound Highway 1 just after 1 p.m and struck a utility pole (right), snapping it into two pieces. The car then spun off into a drainage ravine. The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Traffic in both directions of Highway 1 was slowed for more than an hour. The crash is still under investigation.
