Around 12:24pm a deputy conducted a car stop for vehicle code violations in the 10700 block of Merritt Street in Castroville. The driver, 23-year-old Castroville resident Jesus Rivas Arias, was arrested for a pending warrant. An inspection of his vehicle uncovered ammunition.

Arias was a convicted felon and is forbidden to possess ammunition.

Arias was booked into the Monterey County Jail for being a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition, possession of methamphetamine for sale and endangering a minor.

He was booked into Monterey County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail, but was not listed as being in custody Friday.
