Celedonio Diaz died at his Watsonville home surrounded by his family on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018. He was 86.

Mr. Diaz was born to Elidio Diaz and Virginia Mojica in Michoacán, Mexico on Feb. 8, 1932. He resided in this community for 45 years. Before retiring he was an artichoke field irrigator for 10 years. He was a very hard worker who always provided for his large family. He loved his family and his pet dog “Brownie” and was friendly to everyone he knew and met. He also liked to watch soccer games.

Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife, Aurelia Valencia Sanchez of 60 years; seven sons, Clemente, Francisco Javier, Salvador, Marcos, Napoleon, Seledonio and Aurelio Diaz; three daughters, Virginia, Evangelina, and Norma Diaz; 36 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Liberato Diaz.

Visitation was held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Oct. 10 with the rosary. Mass was celebrated at Valley Catholic Church on Oct. 11 with burial to following at Valley Public Cemetery.
