CHP searching for hit-and-run driver who killed pedestrian

SANTA CRUZ—The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who fatally struck a pedestrian late Monday night, and then fled on foot.

According to CHP Officer Sam Courtney, the 47-year-old victim was walking in the area of Highway 1 north of Shaffer Road when a black 2002 GMC Yukon struck him. He died at the scene.

The Yukon was recovered at the scene.

Anyone with information regarding the driver of the Yukon is asked to call 662-0511 during the day, and 796-2160 after hours.
