Tarmo Hannula/The Pajaronian SKYWARD Jonathon Cara is part of a crew setting up a giant big top tent in Ramsay Park Wednesday to make way for Circus Royal Spectacular.

The Circus has come to town, this time at Ramsay Park on Main Street in Watsonville. 

Circus Royal Spectacular—out of Las Vegas—rolled into town Tuesday, and crews quickly began driving giant tent stakes into the softball diamond  to set up their mammoth bigtop tent.

Circus spokesperson Fabiola Karametriva said the production features tricks, acrobats, clowns, aerial artists, juggling and contortionists.

“The star of our show this year is the Human Cannonball, a man shot at 65 miles per hour out of a cannon,” she said. “But there is much, much more for everyone in the family.”

The entertainers come from a varied list of countries, including Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.

While their performances don’t rely heavily on spoken word, Karametriva said English and Spanish are incorporated to not leave anyone out.

There will be 16 shows in all that are 90 minutes in length between April 12-21 at Ramsay Park, 1301 Main St.

Show times are Friday, 7:30pm;

Saturday, 5:30pm & 7:30pm;

Sunday 3:30pm, 5:30pm & 7:30pm.
