Twenty high school students pose with members of the Watsonville City Council, Pajaro Valley Unified School District officials and teachers Friday during a graduation ceremony for the Summer in the City Internship Program. The inaugural program allowed local high school juniors and seniors to work in city government over three weeks. Each participant received $500 for completing the program. “You got to see a lot, you got to experience a lot, and you got to think about things you might not have before,” Mayor Lowell Hurst told the students. “Don’t stop here. There are lots of opportunities.”
