WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Planning Commission on Tuesday allowed a small winery to open a tasting room on Aviation Way.

Integrity Wines, located at 135 Aviation Way, Suite 16, opened its winery operation in 2016, and has had occasional wine tasting events.

Tuesday’s decision will allow the tasting room to be open on the weekends from noon to 5 p.m.

Mark Hoover of Integrity Wines said the business has been growing “faster than we thought it would.”

“The community has really acknowledged who we are,” he said. “They are happy to see us.”

Integrity Wines is part of a growing number of independent beverage makers in the vicinity. Down the street, Wargin Wines opened a tasting room on 11 Hangar Way in 2015, and the following year on the same road, Elkhorn Slough Brewing Company was established.

On 45 Aviation Way, near Integrity WInes, Beer Thirty is currently being constructed as one tenant in a larger development dubbed “The Hangar.”
