Micro-Business Summit returns
APTOS — The fourth annual Micro-Business Summit, the largest small business event in Santa Cruz County, will return to Cabrillo College’s Aptos campus on May 3.
The summit, which will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature more than 40 speakers, and several valuable sessions on topics important to local small business owners looking to grow their profiles.

Enrollment is limited to 300 participants.
The event includes an afternoon mixer with door prizes, and a complimentary breakfast and lunch.

Santa Cruz Follies to hold variety show
SANTA CRUZ — The Santa Cruz Follies’ “Country Roads” musical variety show will be held this weekend at the Senior Citizen’s Opportunity Clubhouse in Santa Cruz.
The show will present a night of country songs to highlight western heritage. Sandi Jo Stolenkamp and Jan & Marc Bryant will direct an all-Santa Cruz County cast of performers.
Two shows will be held: Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., both at the Senior Citizen’s Opportunity Clubhouse, located in the Market Street Theater, 222 Market St., Santa Cruz. Tickets are $10, and light refreshments will be offered.

Castro Adobe open house
WATSONVILLE — The Castro Adobe State Historic Park 184 Old Adobe Road in Watsonville will host an open house on Saturday with a “Vaqueros and Bandidos” theme. Free guided tours of the historic site, which is still currently undergoing repairs, will be offered at 11:15 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Triple P Workshop: Helping Teens Cope With Depression
WATSONVILLE — Community Bridges will hold a Triple P workshop on April 15 at La Manzana Community Resources on 18 West Lake Ave., site E in Watsonville.
Triple P workshops are brief classes that provide quick tips for handling everyday parenting issues. These free workshops will cover common causes and signs of depression in teens; what to do if you think your teen is depressed; and tips for helping teens develop healthy coping skills.
The workshop will run from 5:30-7 p.m.

Students invited to apply for city internship program
WATSONVILLE — City and school district officials are inviting high school students to apply for the Summer in the City internship program.
This program gives incoming juniors and seniors enrolled in a Pajaro Valley Unified School District high school an inside look of the inner-workings of local government, while preparing them to enter into the workforce.
A total of 21 students will be selected to participate in the program.
The internship runs weekdays on June 17 through July 5. The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with the internship taking place from 1-5 p.m.
Participants will receive a $500 stipend, and 2.5 elective credits.

Caltrans seeking applicants for scholarship program
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Caltrans District 5 and the California Transportation Foundation are offering two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors within the five-county district (Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties).
Employees of Caltrans District 5 initiated this scholarship program 19 years ago which is entirely employee funded through the proceeds of coffee and baked good sales in the district cafeteria. The scholarship program is designed for college-bound senior high school students who are planning to pursue a career in transportation and live within the five counties of the district.
Applications must be submitted by April 30. The 2019 scholarships will be awarded this summer to high school seniors from the central coast.

Vets4Vets holding chili cook-off
FREEDOM — Vets4Vets Santa Cruz will host its first-ever chili cook-off fundraiser at the Freedom VFW on April 20.
