Neighborhood Business Expo scheduled
WATSONVILLE — The Neighborhood Business Expo will take place on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at 65 Hangar Way in Watsonville.
Fourteen businesses will attend the expo, including TOTLCOM, Ella’s at the Airport, Elkhorn Slough Brewing, Arbonne and more.
The free event will include food, drink and a raffle.

Summer reading events lined up
WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Public Library will be hosting free summer reading events until July 29.
The events are as follows:
• “The Wonders of the Watsonville Wetlands” for all ages will happen Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Main Library, 275 Main St., Suite 100, and again on July 18 in the Freedom Branch Center, 2021 Freedom Blvd.
• “Art Class” with local artist Jan Carter, ages 7 and up will take place Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Freedom Branch Center
• “Craft Time at the Freedom Branch” for all ages will take place at 2 p.m. on July 19
• “Build with your Food” for ages 5 and up will take place at the Main Library from 3-5 p.m. on July 20
• “Make Homemade Pet Treats” for ages 10 and up will take place in the Main Library from 1-3 p.m. on July 22
• “Music Movement and Stories” for toddlers, preschoolers and their families will begin at 10:30 a.m. on July 29 at the Freedom Branch Center.

Film festival deadline approaches
WATSONVILLE — Local filmmakers are invited to submit their films to the sixth annual Watsonville Film Festival.
The deadline for film submissions is July 15. Submissions are free.
The festival is looking for films that are entertaining and reflective of Watsonville’s community. The Watsonville Film Festival will take place Oct. 5-8 at various venues around the city.
Filmmakers can obtain detailed information and submit their films online through the organization’s website at watsonvillefilmfest.org.
The Watsonville Film Festival is a nonprofit arts organization that partners with dozens of local organizations and businesses to present a multitude of voices in independent cinema.

WPD to give talk on disaster preparedness
WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Police Department will give a presentation on how to be prepared for an office emergency during a luncheon on July 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Watsonville Elks Lodge, 121 Martinelli St.
The presentation will describe what steps employees can take if an incident such as an active shooter or fire strikes the office.
The event, put on by the Pajaro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, will include lunch from Five Star Catering.

SPIN searching for board member
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — SPIN is looking for a new board member.
SPIN helps children with special needs by helping parents and professionals become more informed about available resources.
Among the requirements, board members are asked to attend board meetings five times a year, help with the “Quiz Night” fundraiser in March, and attend the Annual Dinner in June.
