Saint Patrick’s Parish holds international festival
WATSONVILLE — There will be an international festival in the Watsonville City Plaza on July 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The festival, hosted by Saint Patrick’s Parish, will include games, food and a raffle with a grand prize of $10,000. All proceeds will benefit the church.
Mickey and Minnie Mouse will make an appearance between 2 and 4 p.m. There will be live performances from Sons Athunder, Red Beans and Rice and others.

Dog training club holding classes
WATSONVILLE — The nonprofit Monterey Bay Dog Training Club Inc. will be offering dog training classes from July 11-13 at three sites in Santa Cruz County.
• July 11 in the Crosetti Building at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, 2601 East Lake Ave. in Watsonville
• July 12 at Pet Pals, 3360 Soquel Drive in Soquel
• July 13 at the Mid-County Senior Center, 829 Bay Ave. in Capitola
All levels of training are taught by professional trainers: puppy, beginning, intermediate and advanced.
Cost is $90 per eight-week session. Day and night classes are available.

Paint party to be held
WATSONVILLE — Paint & Chill Party, by Vintage Moon Studios, will be on Tuesday from 6- 8-p.m. at Carmona’s BBQ Deli, 1040 East Lake Ave.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

Film festival deadline approaches
WATSONVILLE — Local filmmakers are invited to submit their films to the sixth annual Watsonville Film Festival.
The deadline for film submissions is July 15. Submissions are free.
The festival is looking for films that are entertaining and reflective of Watsonville’s community. The Watsonville Film Festival will take place Oct. 5-8 at various venues around the city.
Filmmakers can obtain detailed information and submit their films online through the organization’s website at watsonvillefilmfest.org.
The Watsonville Film Festival is a nonprofit arts organization that partners with dozens of local organizations and businesses to present a multitude of voices in independent cinema.

Pajaro Valley Climate Action plans community roundtable
WATSONVILLE — Regeneration Pajaro Valley Climate Action will host its second community roundtable on July 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Civic Plaza Community Room at 275 Main St. in Watsonville.
Pajaro Valley Climate Action is dedicated to representing the community in its movement against climate change. The group will be creating a community survey to prioritize environmental issues that the community feels are the most urgent, including local problems. They will also be asking for personal stories to realize the needs of the community and to support various projects fighting climate change in the community.

Application period begins for gardening program
WATSONVILLE — The University of California Master Gardeners of Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties are now accepting applications for its 2018 Training Program.
UC Master Gardener volunteers attempt to disseminate information from university-based research to home gardens.
The program is a 15-week affair focused on sustainable gardening in exchange for a commitment to provide a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer work with the program and 12 hours of continuing education each year.
The January-June 2018 training program will be held on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UC Cooperative Extension Office in Watsonville. A class materials fee of $200 is required. Gardeners interested must attend an information session and submit an online application by Sept. 30.
The 6,300 active UC Master Gardeners in more than 50 California counties educate home gardeners through classes, workshops, diagnostic hotlines, blogs and demo gardens.
