Workshop to discuss Green Business certification
WATSONVILLE — The California Green Business Network will hold a workshop on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at TOTLCOM, 65 Hangar Way in Watsonville.
The workshop will discuss how businesses can achieve a Green Business certification.
Attendees are asked to bring lunch. Beverages and dessert will be provided.

Sale benefits local families
CORRALITOS — Angel Warriors for Kids will host a spring rummage sale fundraiser April 13-14 at Corralitos Community Church, 26 Browns Valley Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The sale will include sporting equipment, household items, furniture, books and more.
All proceeds will go to children and their families who are battling pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Travel photographer to present work
LA SELVA BEACH — Professional travel photographer Mary Altier and her husband John Walker will be presenting a slide show titled “Baltics, Belarus and Poland” on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the La Selva Beach Library, 316 Estrella Ave.

FEMA grants organizations $500K
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Congressman Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) announced that Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito counties received $511,779 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) for local social service agencies to offer food, housing, and utility assistance for those in need.
Specifically, Santa Cruz County received $177,480, Monterey County received $298,982 and San Benito County received $35,317.
“These grants help local organizations provide our neighbors in need with a roof over their heads and food on the table,” Panetta said. “By working directly with local service agencies who work to combat homelessness and hunger, the federal government is better able to serve our communities.”
EFSP funds are used to supplement food, shelter, rent, mortgage, and utility assistance programs for people with non-disaster related emergencies. In order to apply for EFSP funds, eligible service agencies must be a private, voluntary nonprofit, or local government; eligible to receive federal funding; have a demonstrated ability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter assistance; have an accounting system and conduct an annual audit; practice non-discrimination; and if a nonprofit, have a voluntary board of directors.
