Castro Adobe Open House highlights earthquakes
WATSONVILLE — Throughout its history, the Castro Adobe State Historic Park has been impacted by earthquakes on the San Andreas fault line. The Castro Adobe’s story should have ended with the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, but the right choices at the right times kept the story alive.
The topic of earthquakes will be discussed Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Castro Adobe Open House’s presentation, “Earthquakes of the Past, Present and Future.”
Open house activities include three presentations: “Earthquakes of the Past” at noon; “Earthquakes of the Present” at 1 p.m. and “Earthquakes of the Future” at 2 p.m.
Castro Adobe State Historic Park is located at 184 Old Adobe Road in Watsonville. The park is an active construction area and is open only for special events, like this open house. The event is free; donations are accepted. Parking is limited, and carpooling is strongly encouraged. On-leash dogs allowed in parking area only.
