CORRALITOS — At a recent Loma Prieta District meeting of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Corralitos chapter hosted Carl J. Stewart, president and co-founder of the Honor Flight Bay Area Foundation.
Captain Stewart (USN, retired) spoke about the Honor Flight organization, which provides a service to veterans of World War II and Korea, where the veterans can experience national monuments of their respective wars, and many other venues, such as Arlington Cemetery and the Lincoln Memorial. Each veteran is accompanied by a volunteer escort, who assists the veteran with travel logistics and personal needs during the trip.
The veterans are given receptions upon arrival in Washington D.C. and departure.
