Daniel “Danny” Rivas died in Watsonville surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. He was 54.

Mr. Rivas was born in Watsonville to Ruben and Margaret Rivas. He loved motorcycles, classic cars, music and dancing. Most of all he loved his dogs. Mr. Rivas had a smile and laughter that could light up a room. He was always joking around and making people laugh. Mr. Rivas was always helping and giving to others. He worked hard and earned his black belt in Tung-Soo-Do (Korean Karate) at the age of 24.

Mr. Rivas is survived by his partner of 25 years, Dolores Solano Machado; step-children, Jennifer, John, and Jeff; mother, Margaret Rivas; siblings, Marisela (Steve) Leon, Ruben Rivas and Rick Rivas; one grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
