David F. Hunkel, a child of God, died on June 20, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis. He was 82 years old.

He was born in Milwaukee on February 2, 1936, to Edwin and Elizabeth Dorothea (Kalvelage) Hunkel. He graduated from St. John’s Military Academy in 1954 and attended Marquette University. He worked in the wholesale flower business most of his life.

He married Nancy (McMullen) on August 6, 1960, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. They are blessed with three sons: David Jr., Christian (Carol Butler), and Peter (Laurie Benson); and five grandchildren; Katie Hunkel, Kelly (Justin) Mroczenski, and Kevin Hunkel, all of Green Bay and Samuel and Nina Hunkel of La Selva Beach, CA. The family enjoyed life in the Monterey Bay area of California for 40 years before returning to Green Bay recently.

Family and friends met at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthew Street, Green Bay, WI, on Saturday, June 23, 2018, for a Memorial Mass at 10:00am with the Rev. Robert Kabat officiating. Inurnment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
