
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a body that was found along the Pajaro River levee west of the Main Street Bridge that connects the community of Pajaro to Watsonville.
On Monday the Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 36-year-old Jesus Alfonso Duarte Figueroa of Watsonville. Deputies added that the incident is now a murder investigation and that they are searching for the persons or persons responsible for the death. The cause of death has not been released.

On April 10, detectives got a call about a body that was buried along the Pajaro River levee just off of Pajaro Park and directly beyond Linde Welding Gas and Equipment Co. Detectives responded at 3pm and began searching, and at 8pm detectives found the buried body.
A post-mortem forensic examination will be performed by the Monterey County Sheriff’s Coroner division to determine the identity of the decedent.
