Benjamin Sanchez, 48, faces three counts of felony burglary. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Sanchez was caught on surveillance footage on Feb. 24 using bolt cutters to break into the service stall of a car dealership on the 500 block of Auto Center Drive and steal hundreds of dollars worth of tools. About four hours later, he allegedly returned to the same place and stole a 5-gallon gas tank.

On March 25, Sanchez reportedly came back to the same area and broke into a truck that was awaiting repair and stole hundreds of dollars worth of tools.

Detectives located and arrested Sanchez on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators are still working to track down the stolen items. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Tyler Wildey at 768-3356.
