Civil rights activist Dolores Huerta will speak at the Henry J. Mello Center for the Performing Arts in Watsonville on Aug. 12 at 4pm.
She’ll be joined on stage by local activists Mireya Gómez-Contreras, co-leader of Esperanza Community Farms, and Ann López, executive director of the Center for Farmworker Families, as they discuss cultivating sustainable communities through organic farming and economic justice.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Esperanza Community Farms and the Center for Farmworker Families.
Tickets are $20 and all seats are general admission.
This event is being sponsored by Rise Together Fund at Community Foundation Santa Cruz County, Land Trust of Santa Cruz County and Santa Cruz County Bank.
Doors will open at 3pm with appetizers, mingling with nonprofits and vendors, and will be followed by a dance performance by the Watsonville-based children’s group Estrellas de Esperanza, before the presenters take the stage. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available upon request.
