SANTA CRUZ — Dominican Hospital was locked down Tuesday morning after a man called emergency dispatchers and threatened to bring a gun and start shooting, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Clark said.
According to Clark, the unidentified suspect was upset that the hospital had either killed or mistreated his wife when he called 911 at about 9:53 a.m.
The threat prompted the sheriff’s office to lock down the hospital for an hour and a half, Clark said.
“We take these incidents extremely serious,” he said.
Clark said that investigators are following several leads.
“We obviously want to find the person responsible,” Clark said. “We don’t take these things lightly.”
Dominican Hospital spokeswoman Claire Henry declined to comment, except to say, “hospital operations are not affected.”
