Elias “Eli” Mendoza died in San Jose on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018. He was 74.

Mr. Mendoza was born on Feb. 17, 1944 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Pedro and Vicenta Mendoza. He was a devoted family man that loved spending time with them. He was married to his wife Roxy for 53 years. He was dedicated to his faith and the church. He successfully ran Central Roofing for 50 years. He was a dedicated little league coach, church member and impactful member of the racing community. He was a kind-hearted man who was always willing to help anyone. He was a resident of Watsonville.

Mr. Mendoza is survived by his wife, Andrea “Roxy” Mendoza; his children, Evangeline Lewis, Margaret Mendoza, Vicenta Mendoza and Eli Mendoza Jr.; his siblings, Anna Maria “Mary” Martinez, Hilda Stevens, Abraham Mendoza (Helga), Ruben Mendoza, Joe Mendoza (Joyce) and Peter Mendoza Jr. (Cynthia); six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27, at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, located at 609 Main St. in Watsonville from 3-5 p.m. for the family and 5-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. for the public.
