Esperanza A. Monroy died peacefully at a local convalescent home surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 20, 2018. She was 87.

Ms. Monroy was born in Araro, Michoacán, Mexico and has been a resident of this community for 47 years. She was a loving mother, and dedicated her life to her late-husband and children. Being a homemaker, she always cooked delicious meals for her large family and kept her home neat and tidy. She liked to listen to music, dance, and going to the rodeos and thermal waters. She also enjoyed being outdoors tending to her flower and plant garden and she liked to whistle. 

She is survived by her five sons, Rigoberto, Gustavo, Daniel, Wilfrido, and Leonel Monroy; six daughters, Alicia, Obdulia, Elena, Carmen, Isabel, and Rosa Monroy; 34 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church on Friday, May 25 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
