Evelyn Goon passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 21, 2018 at the age of 98. Evelyn was born and raised in Watsonville, California attending local schools and graduating from Watsonville High School. She also attained her AA degree from Hartnell College in Salinas. Evelyn and Earl married upon his return home from the service in WWII.
They built a life together in Watsonville, raising two children, owning and operating Earl’s Men’s Wear in the East Lake Shopping Center for many years. Evelyn also loved to knit, do needlepoint and several other crafts. Numerous family and friends are beneficiaries of her beautiful pieces. Family was very important to her. She hosted many holiday and birthday parties. She enjoyed traveling. She and Earl were able to travel to Europe where they visited some of the places that Earl had seen during the war. They were also able to take a cruise to Alaska. After Earl passed, she continued traveling with family to China, New York, cruise on the Panama Canal, view the fall colors on a New England cruise.
She moved to Walnut Creek at the age of 80 to be near her daughter and son-in-law and lived in this area for the past 18 years. She made many new friends here and enjoyed trips around the Bay Area, experiencing many of the sights and restaurants.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Jim) and son Barry; her brothers Stan, Larry (Barbara) and Dick (Emily); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Cremation was by the Neptune Society to be followed by a private scattering of ashes. A Celebration of Life will take place in January. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
