A fire late Wednesday morning in Watsonville destroyed two vehicles in the area of Brennan Street and Freedom Boulevard.

Firefighters reported no injuries. The blaze erupted at about 10:15am in a 2024 Tesla and a Ford F150 van that were parked next to each other.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple explosions as flames engulfed both vehicles. Neither vehicle was occupied.

The owner of the Tesla, who called himself Thomas, said he had just parked to watch pickleball games at Callaghan Park. Investigators are still trying to determine which of the two vehicles the fire started in.

Watsonville police shut down Brennan Street for more than an hour.
