A burned up car and a charred heap of rubble is shown where an early morning fire swept through a double-wide mobile home Thursday on the 100 block of Paulsen Road. Pajaro Valley Fire engineer Bret Swearengin said first arriving firefighters were met with a fully engulfed home at 1:40 a.m. where the family that lived there had safely escaped. “They smelled smoke and got out,” Swearengin said. Firefighters from Cal Fire at Corralitos and Watsonville Fire helped fight the blaze. The cause is still under investigation.
