Fire in the Sky event returns | News Briefs

The Fire in the Sky and airport open house event will return to Watsonville Municipal Airport on Sept. 4, bringing with it, among other things, a fireworks show, food vendors and a flyover.

The free event starts at 6:30pm. Masks will be required and a Covid-19 vaccination clinic will be available to attendees.

It is part of the city of Watsonville’s Welcome Back Watsonville Summer Event Series. The event is typically held on the Fourth of July Weekend, but it was moved to Labor Day weekend this year because of the pandemic.

Free Legal Help with U.S.Citizen Application

The process to become a U.S. citizen can be challenging, but the Community Action Board (CAB) wants to help.

Those interested in applying for citizenship will have the chance to receive free legal services at a clinic organized by CAB and the city of Watsonville on Sept. 12. The $725 cost to become a citizen might seem daunting, but CAB will help low-income applicants determine if they qualify for a fee waiver. Come with questions, and make sure to pre-register by calling 831-724-5667.

If you have other immigration-related questions, CAB’s Santa Cruz County Immigration Project also provides free immigration legal services for a variety of concerns. For information, call 831-724-5667.
