Watsonville firefighters battle flames erupting from a car in Pajaro Wednesday evening. Capt. Thomas Outzen of North Monterey County Fire said there were no apparent injuries, and that the gas tank appeared to have ruptured in the small sedan, leading to a stubborn and dramatic blaze that took about 20 minutes to quell. According to a witness, the car had been abandoned in a driveway near Salinas Road at Jonathan Street in an industrial area for at lest one day and the tires and windshield had been removed. No structures were damaged. The cause is still under investigation.
