Francisca Huerta Lujan Ontiveros died peacefully in Watsonville on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was 85.

Mrs. Ontiveros had a passion for dancing, fine clothes and stiletto heels. She made the finest Mexican food and stacks of homemade flour tortillas with butter. She always offered to take care of her grandkids. She was a hard worker, holding several jobs at one time with a cleaning business of her own. She worked at various local canneries, cleaned numerous homes and local offices, before retiring her business and moved on to work at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She retired from UCSC in 1990. A strong-willed woman with a passion for family dancing and life. She suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2009 and succumbed to this disease.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Aguilar Ontiveros; and her siblings, Daniel, Catalina, Jose, Carmela, Rosa and Santiago.

She is survived by her children, Leticia, Anthony Jr., Elvia and Gilbert Ontiveros; her brother, Manuel Huerta; and 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 5 with hors d’oeuvres being served from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the celebration of her life commencing at 1 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel.
