George John Kosovac, 93, passed away in his native Watsonville on June 6, 2018.

He attended Chaminade and later served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the radio signal corps and saw action in Normandy and Germany. After learning to fly in the Army, he enjoyed flying all his life. At age 88 he earned his helicopter operator’s license and last flew in his own airplane in January 2018!

In 1947 he opened George’s Radio and Television on 5th Street in Watsonville, and sold the first TV in Watsonville. He also sold a TV to a blind man so he could hear the local TV channels.  George, in addition to playing pipe organ in church, climbed to the very top of St. Patrick’s Church to install TV cable.

George led a very active life. He ran every day and swam often, loved Hawaiian music, and was one of the oldest AAA members in the state. He had numerous cats over the years, his favorite was a Siamese. He has gone on to join his beloved sweetheart, Nita.  Santa Cruz Memorial is in charge of arrangements.
