Gerald Michael Iannarelli, resident of Aromas, CA, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He was 55.

Gerald was born March 12, 1962 in Queens Village, New York to Salvatore and Edna (Firenze) Iannarelli. A graduate of St. John’s University in New York, Gerald established himself as well respected Athletic Trainer. Early in his career he worked with professional hockey teams across the country such as the New York Islanders, and the Kentucky Thoroughblades. He then worked with the San Jose SaberCats arena Football. 

Gerald found his true calling when he was hired by Palo Alto Medical Foundation in 2007. He worked with the company’s high school athletics outreach program at Watsonville High School, where he was fondly called “Jerry the Trainer”. His love for the kids, and dedication to his work, was felt by all in the community. The returned love and support from the kids, coaches, and coworkers was unparalleled. To the end of his journey they were all there by his side. â€¨

Gerald leaves behind his devoted wife, Deb Iannarelli; step-son, Nicholas Rescino (Mariana); most beloved grandchildren, Savanah, Nicolas and Francesca Rescino; beloved brothers, Ralph Iannarelli (Linda), Rocco Iannarelli (Jill) and beloved nephew, Andrew Iannarelli


In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations: In Memory of “Jerry the Trainer” be sent to: Watsonville High School Athletic Department, 250 East Beach Street, Watsonville, CA 95076.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 26 from 5-9pm with the Rosary recited at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mission San Juan Bautista on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 11 am. Graveside service will be held at Los Gatos Memorial Park (2255 Los Gatos Almaden Rd, San Jose, CA 95124) on Monday, Oct. 2 at noon.
