The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs inched closer to the Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division crown with a 3-0 win in Soledad on Wednesday night.

Emily Edgerle scored two goals and Caroline Sullivan added the third goal for M.V.C. (10-2-4, 8-0-2), which can clinch its first league crown since the 2014-15 season with a win against Monterey tonight at home and a tie between Seaside and Pajaro Valley.

First touch at M.V.C. is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

Seaside and Pajaro Valley are schedule to start at the same time.

In other girls’ soccer action from Jan. 24-30:

St. Francis 1, Pacific Grove 0 – St. Francis stayed alive in the PCAL-Cypress title hunt with a win over Pacific Grove on Wednesday evening in Watsonville.

Makenna Bedolla scored the game’s lone goal to improve the Sharks to 6-3-1 overall and 5-3 in league play.

In order for the Sharks to win the league title, they would need to win out and get some help from the rest of the league over the last two weeks of the season. They do, however, control their own destiny in the quest for a runner-up finish in the league, which comes with a play-in game against the champion of the PCAL-Santa Lucia for a spot in the upcoming Central Coast Section playoffs.

St. Francis hosts Soledad today at 3:30 p.m.

At Aptos 5, SLV 0 – Gisselle Vasquez scored two goals and made an assist to lead the Mariners past the Cougars for a Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League win on Tuesday.

Jazmin Castaneda dished two assists and scored once for the Mariners, while Aubree Westjohn and Haley Veldhuis also found the back of the net.

Watsonville 3, at North Salinas 0 – Elyanna Magdaleno scored twice to lead the Wildcatz over the Vikings in PCAL-Mission action on Monday.

Angelina Osorio added another score for Watsonville.

Pajaro Valley 4, Pacific Grove 0 – Jasmin Castillo recorded a hat trick for the Grizzlies in Jan. 25’s PCAL-Cypress win.

Andrea Lazcano scored once for Pajaro Valley, which continues its season tonight at Seaside at 5:45 p.m.

At M.V.C. 4, St. Francis 2 – Shayna Lebovitz, Kailey Morrell, Edgerle and Sullivan all scored for the Mustangs in their PCAL-Cypress win on Jan. 25.

Sullivan also made an assist, as did Sara Thornburg and Jana Komposch.

At Watsonville 3, Alvarez 1 – Ashley Haduca scored two goals and Magdaleno scored another in the Wildcatz’s PCAL-Mission win on Jan. 25.

At N.M.C. 3, Gilroy 2 – Maria Ramirez scored twice to lead the Condors to a PCAL-Gabilan win on Jan. 24.

Daisey Magdaleno also scored in the win.

At Ceiba 10, Oakwood 0 – Nellie Rubio-Pintor scored five goals, Alexia Carrisales added three and the Spartans cruised to a PCAL-Santa Lucia win on Jan. 24.
