WATSONVILLE — Dozens of customers on April 6 were browsing the aisles of Harbor Freight, Watsonville’s newest hardware store.

The store held a “soft opening” on April 5. A grand opening is scheduled for April 18, assistant manager Omar Campos said.

The 15,000-square-foot store at 1060 South Green Valley Road takes roughly half the space once occupied by Orchard Supply Hardware. Hope Thrift takes the other half.

The store is the company’s 100th in California, and its 875th nationwide. The company bills itself as offering “quality tools at ridiculously low prices.”

The store is open from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Sunday.
