Former Watsonville Fire Capt. Ron Rackley serves up homemade chili to Linda Hicks at the opening day barbecue lunch where huge crowds are filing through the 2024 fair. Dozens of fair food options will be offered through Sunday, with the stand kettlecorn, corn dogs, burgers, shave ice and more. Collections, arts and crafts, floriculture, the history of agriculture in the Pajaro Valley, livestock competitions, business displays, carnival ride, the Bug Barn and evening drone light shows are a mere sampling of the wealth of attractions this year. The Santa Cruz County Fair, with the theme “Pioneer Days to Modern Ways,” will run Sept. 11-15.
