Raised in Mexico, Mr. Valencia started working in a textile factory for 20 years before meeting the love of his life Elisa. They were married in the 1960s and built a life together in Watsonville, where they raised their two sons, Oscar and Hector. He worked in agriculture, frozen foods and ended with a 20-year career as a custodian for UCSC.

After Mr. Valencia retired, he enjoyed daily walks along the beach with his close friends. He also enjoyed taking trips and spending quality time with his two sons, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.  He was a devoted husband and a thoughtful, kind, and caring man who was loved and respected by all.

Mr. Valencia was preceded in death by his wife, Elisa. He is survived by his sons, Oscar and Hector (Rochelle) Valencia; two grandchildren; and dozens of extended family members in Mexico.

A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Friday, Aug. 17 from 4-6 p.m. with a Chapel Blessing at 5 p.m. A reception will be held after services.
