WATSONVILLE — Joel Jacobo Lopez died at Dominican Hospital surrounded by his family on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017. He was 55.

Mr. Lopez was born to Roberto Lopez and Basilisa Jacobo on Aug. 26, 1961 in Huacao, Michoacán, Mexico and lived in this area for 42 years. He enjoyed and worked hard at his job in construction for 17 years. He was a good son and would call his mother daily to ask how she was doing and would often take her to eat at restaurants and sometimes go to the beach. He had a small circle of close friends.

Mr. Lopez is survived by his mother, Basilisa; six brothers, Martin, Roberto, Jose, Ignacio, Santiago (Marta) and Salvador (Maria) Lopez; and four sisters, Aurora, Angelita, Silvia and Maria Lopez.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 5-9 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption on Friday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
