John C. Bowie, a longtime resident of Watsonville, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2017 surrounded by family.
John was born in San Benito, Texas in 1934 to George and Edith Bowie. They moved to Watsonville and he attended local schools and graduated from Watsonville High School in 1952. He joined the Navy and married his wife of 60 years, Toni Beller.
He worked for Pacific Bell and retired from AT&T. John was a skilled wood craftsman and made many cherished items for his family and friends. John and Toni enjoyed traveling in their motor-home club and treasured the six and half weeks spent at Lake Topaz every year.
John is survived by his sons John Daniel Bowie, David Bowie (Patti), and Donald Bowie (Dawn). He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren Jeff Bowie (Meredith), Allison Moghaddasi (Ardeshir), Jackie Bowie (fiancé Jacob), Jennifer Ramirez (David), and Michelle Hurtado (Adrian); 3 great-grandchildren (Nathan, Mary-Lynne and Nicholas); Sister-in-Law (Gerry) and her two children (Scott and Kim); nephews Scott and Steve Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Taylor and his wife Toni.
A celebration life will be held at The Bowie Family home in Freedom, CA on July 15th at 1:00 pm. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
