K9 retires from Watsonville Police Department

WATSONVILLE—Watsonville Police Department said goodbye to one of its key officers this week, K9 Ranger.

The 8-year-old German Shepherd joined Watsonville Police Department in 2014 and worked alongside his partner Officer Brian Fulgoni, combing the streets of Watsonville—and outside the area with surrounding agencies—on a host of service calls.

“He watched over our community for years and now he gets to enjoy the perks of retirement (chew toys and lots of juicy steaks),” said spokeswoman Michelle Pulido.

In his time with the force, K-9 Ranger assisted in several apprehensions, over 100 surrenders, and numerous school and public demonstrations.

He now gets to relax at home with his family and long-time handler, now Sgt. Fulgoni.
